Gilbert Gia

Gilbert GiaI was raised in Bakersfield, California and for thirty-two years taught Special Education pupils in City Schools. In 2002 I turned my full-time attention to local history. The delight of research and the challenge of writing gave me a second life. Writers often thank their spouses for making research and writing time possible. I assure readers that without my wife's kind understanding and patience the histories would not exist. Thank you, my dearest.

These stories have appeared variously in the Bakersfield Californian; Bakersfield Magazine; The Blackboard; publications of the Kern County Historical Society; quarterly of the Kern Genealogical Society; quarterly of the Tulare County Historical Society; and the Pulse, a publication of the Kern Division, California Retired Teachers' Association. I'm current President of the Kern County Historical Society.
